Well done to all learners that participated and to staff for their assistance
Grade 8’s have fun at Interhouse Gala
With the usual rain on the day of the grade 8 gala, this year the sun was shining bright for our Grade 8’s to enjoy their swim. The grade 8’s followed many years of tradition by walking down to the Edenvale public pool in their respective houses.
The day was filled with chanting and smiles. All learners made an effort to get into the pool and have a try. The leaders were in the pool assisting when needed. The results were as follows for the Grade 8 Inter house Gala:
Best boy overall: Lolan Moonsamy (8A – Lincoln)
Best Girl overall: Yla Jackson (8I – Bismarck)
Overall results:
4th place = Lincoln (78 points)
3rd place = Churchill (89)
2nd place = Smuts (98)
1st place = Bismarck (140)
Thank you to all the Grade 8’s and leaders along with staff for your participation.
Waves of nerves and excitement radiated off the grade 8’s of Edenglen High, as they said their goodbyes and headed into the hall, where their 5 year journey at Edenglen high school begins
Once seated in the hall, the teachers and leader body were introduced and the placement of pupils into their respected classes.
Each class, escorted by their class leader, were given a tour around the school as well as the do’s and don’ts. The leaders gave the Grade 8’s some advice on how to survive.
During the day, they were issued with their new Edenglen high kit and had the opportunity to interact with both their register teacher and fellow classmates.
After lunch, they were given their first task as a class. Each class had to prepare a skit of 7 minutes long on any topic they chose. After a few debates, topics were chosen and practice began.
Just before the end of the day, the grade 8’s returned to the hall where they would now have to perform the skits that they had prepared earlier on in the day.
As the day came to a close and the grade 8’s felt a bit more comfortable. Nerves seemed to have subsided, but boy, if they only knew what was lying ahead of them.
Best of luck to the class of 2024
